What makes CBD an excellent anti-inflammatory compound?

Research shows that CBD is an amazing alternative to most anti inflammatory medications, and for good reason. CB2 receptors are mostly found in our bodys peripheral nervous system, When CB2 receptors are activated, they work to reduce inflammation. When a patient uses CBD it binds to the CB2 receptors of the overactive immune cells. When the two bind together it activates the CB2 receptors and stimulates a certain type of anti-inflammatory protein called the caspase. When the caspase is activated, it will send a signal that induces the start of the cell death or apoptosis of the immune cell. With the immune cells dying through caspase activation, the inflammatory process is controlled and production of cytokines is reduced

Studies suggest that cannabinoids may prove quite beneficial in pain modulation specifically by inhibiting neuronal transmission in pain pathways. A study in 2012, published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, identified that CBD drastically suppressed chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain in rodents. Additionally, it did this without causing analgesic tolerance. Scientists believe that CBD and other non psychoactive components of cannabis may denote a new class of therapeutic agents for treating chronic pain.
