Anxiety Overview

We’ve all felt anxious at times but for many, it can be debilitating. Anxiety disorders affect 40 million people in the United States. These disorders are the most common group of mental illnesses in the country. However, only 36.9 percent of people with an anxiety disorder receive treatment. Symptoms of Anxiety include restlessness, the feeling of being “on-edge”, uncontrollable feelings of worry, increased irritability, concentration difficulties, and sleep difficulties.

CBD and Anxiety

According to research published in Neurotherapeutics, CBD may be a successful option in reducing General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), and Panic Disorders.
Studies have provided evidence that supports CBD as a viable treatment for anxiety. Reports indicate CBD directly affects paralimbic and limbic brain areas which causes a decrease in anxiety without any consciousness-shifting, psychoactive effects. Two recent tests from a published journal at the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s National Library of Medicine proved a correlation between low-dose CBD and reductions in personal anxiety; results implied CBD helps those living with GAD and other types of anxiety endure stress-provoking situations.

Little to no side effects

Research suggests that traditional medications for many of these anxiety disorders can actually create additional symptoms and harsh side effects. These unwanted conditions have often caused many of those suffering, to stop taking their current medications all together. Throughout the study, CBD never displayed any adverse side effects or additional symptoms leading scientists to believe with more testing, CBD could be a better option
